White Horse Brancaster Is Norfolk Hotel Of The Year

The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, North Norfolk has been awarded a ‘César’ by The Good Hotel Guide and has been named Norfolk Hotel of the year 2014. A ‘César’ is awarded by The Good Hotel Guide to their choice of the ten best hotels of the year countrywide. These awards are the most celebrated by hoteliers and are likened to the ‘Oscars’ of hotel keeping.

The Good Hotel Guide is renowned as being the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain and Ireland; entry into the guide is based on visits by ‘anonymous’ inspectors and guests experiences.

‘The White Horse is a lovely hotel with a relaxing ambience, friendly staff and good management. The modern cooking of the freshest ingredients – perhaps Cyril’s mussels harvested at the bottom of the garden – is delicious. There is a happy atmosphere in the bar and restaurant; the bedrooms have an appropriate seaside feel,’ said Desmond Balmer, Editor of The Good Hotel Guide.

Said James Nye, Managing Director of The White Horse, ‘It is a huge honour to be named Norfolk Hotel of the Year and even more so to have received national recognition with a César. This is ultimate recognition for the years of hard work from the team at The White Horse and I can’t thank staff enough for their contribution and to our guests who submit reports. Norfolk has an abundance of wonderfully fresh produce, great people and genuine hospitality and to be independently picked as best in the county is a massive privilege.’

The White Horse, with Christina Boyle as General Manager at the helm (www.whitehorsebrancaster.co.uk), is also a family run business and part of the ACInns group (www.acinns.co.uk) which has three other hospitality businesses in the eastern region. The White Horse is situated in a picturesque typically Norfolk village overlooking stunning tidal salt marshes and estuaries with views to Scolt Head Island and the sea beyond. Seasonal and local is the ethos of Avrum Frankel, Head Chef.

‘There are lots of ingredients needed to run a successful hotel, all are academic without the catalyst of good staff and this award is all about our staff, well done. It’s the great team we have at The White Horse that makes it work. We strive to make customers visits special, it’s the whole experience that makes The White Horse so unique’ said Cliff Nye, Chairman ACInns Ltd.
