Ambience, atmosphere and history; The Ironmongers at Aylsham Market Place.
Are you looking for somewhere to stay with great access to Norfolk’s finest attractions, the coast and the Broads, as well as Norwich? Then welcome to The Ironmongers, at the heart of the market town of Aylsham.
You may be coming to Norfolk for a friend’s wedding, a short break, to enjoy a fabulous outdoor concert in the grounds of a nearby stately home, savour the countryside, the coast and the Broads, or simply wander or cycle along some of the routes that radiate across North Norfolk. Whatever the reason, The Ironmongers offers a great place to stay. It’s accommodation with an innovative approach – not air b ‘n’ b or bed and breakfast, but just a ‘b’. A stone’s throw away from your accommodation you will find plenty of places offering scrumptious breakfast options and more, from Breadsource to Ms Tapas and Cocktails nestled within the building itself.
The bedrooms at The Ironmongers have individual style and character, imaginatively themed on the trades you’d have seen in the past selling wares within the building or on the Market Place, which it overlooks. The rooms are lovely, comfortable, light, airy and situated in a fabulous landmark building in the centre of Aylsham. The sprawling interior once hosted the mysteries of Clarke’s the Ironmongers, where you could find every hardware item imaginable.
The idea of The Ironmongers, is for you to stay in this amazing building, sleep well and in comfort, and then go out and savour the delights of this part of our world. A stay at The Ironmongers offers a unique overnight experience in boutique accommodation with individually-designed rooms (you will want to return to try out ALL 8 rooms). The building is a maze of corridors, staggered floors, original beams, lovely exposed brickwork and stairways with parts of the structure dating from the 17th Century.
The Ironmongers is family-run, family-owned, so while they’ll be at a discreet distance, there’s a hands on touch too. Lovely.
