The Lodge in Old Hunstanton, recipient of a TripAdvisor Excellence Award and a runner up in the Mayor’s Business Awards, reopens on Thursday 12 February 2015 after a month-long refurbishment.
Cleverly incorporating the latest technology within its historic setting, the popular inn features a completely new bar area, cellar and kitchen, plus a stylishly redeveloped bedroom.
An intimate setting greets guests on arrival, with comfortable wing armchairs and sofas by an open fireplace.
A new central bar has been built to create a key feature and visual impact. The bar provides a central hub to enjoy The Lodge’s outstanding service, which has earned it a TripAdvisor Excellence Award. A range of new beers and coffee are being introduced from launch. On the far side of the bar, a bank of booths creates the perfect spot for couples and families alike.
Outside, an enclosed seating area – the ‘sitooterie’ – offers the perfect sheltered spot, whatever the weather. Further plans to develop The Lodge’s outdoor space will be announced shortly.
Bedoom 17 has been remodelled and renamed The Snug, as it now incorporates a log burner– which can be lit for guests for a luxuriously intimate atmosphere. The fireplace bears a coat of arms, believed to be Le Strange. Widowed Emilia Styleman (nee Le Strange) purchased The Lodge around 1825 and the family owned the property until 1925.
The Snug bedroom completes The Lodge’s courtyard rooms, which provide a flexible, secluded area at the rear of the property that can be booked as a group or singly. Each of these bedrooms – additionally the Garden Shed, the Bottle Store and the Coal Bunker – have been created around the original store rooms, with a Jacuzzi bath in the Coal Bunker. Dogs are welcome in these rooms.
“We have worked hard to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere at The Lodge that reflects the excellent service and experience, that is widely recognised by our customers,” say The Lodge’s owners. “We have used a blend of premium materials and high quality workmanship to achieve a ‘home from home’ setting and we look forward to welcoming back old friends and new guests alike in the coming weeks and months.”
