There has been a pier or jetty in Cromer since 1391, and the present iron structure was opened in 1901 and extended in 1905. Cromer Pier is now one of only five UK seaside piers with a fully flourishing theatre and it’s home to the only end of pier show of its kind in the world.
In 2024, Cromer Pier was crowned Pier of the Year by The National Piers Society. This is the third time that Cromer Pier has won the award, with previous wins in 2000 and 2015.
The Cromer Pier Show is a celebration of live variety, taking the traditional seaside production and elevating it to West End standards. Audiences can expect exceptional production value including the jaw-dropping 8 metre video wall, delivering impressive special effects alongside unique and traditional scene sets. Together, they create a visual sensation that’s complimented by bespoke costumes, spectacular lighting effects and breath-taking sound design. A true variety show, with a cast including vocalists, aerialists, comedians, magicians and dancers.
Cromer Pier operates all year round, closing the year with The Cromer Pier Christmas Show, a dazzling festive variety show. It isn’t Christmas in Norfolk without the host of the show, Olly Day and his trademark warm humour with a local twist! Olly guides audiences through a festive journey filled with music, comedy, magic and dancing. Matinee and evening performances are available to book.
When the Summer and Christmas Shows are not on, Cromer Pier host a large arrange of touring performers.
Cromer Pier is also home to the Pavilion Bar a unique and premier spot to sit and watch the world go by whatever the weather. You’ll also find their Gift Shop & Box Office and two ice cream kiosks.
The end of the pier houses the RNLI Cromer Lifeboat Station. Lifeboats have been stationed on the pier since 1923.
