Cley Smokehouse was established in 1975 by Mike & Suzi Rhodes, snuggled in the warehouse and garden of the Custom House in Cley next the Sea.
Initially only intended to smoke a few traditionally cured herrings, as a treat for friends and family, quickly grew into the busy Smokehouse it is today with a reputation known nationally for great quality & its ethical approach to sustainability.
Whilst Herring, Salmon, local Shellfish and Mackerel formed the mainstay, smoked prawns, fish pates, and smoked & cured meats became popular additions.
The business changed hands in 2002, and the focus changed from not only retail, but to online and trade sales too. In 2019 Cley Smokehouse opened up its second store at Manor Farm Barns in Glandford. This second venue was a Deli Café to showcase further the delicious food traditionally produced at their Smokehouse in Cley Next the Sea.
Today there are daily specialties as well as a full menu served everyday from 10 am to 4 pm. And, if you love pizza, their very own wood fired pizzas are served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 1 pm and 8 pm.
Cley Smokehouse is as committed today as it has always been to provide the best quality food service to all it’s customers whether you’re taking away or eating in.
